ANSSI
The French National Cybersecurity Agency is France's national authority for cybersecurity, in charge of implementing NIS 2 in France.
ANSSI (Agence Nationale de la Sécurité des Systèmes d'Information) is France's leading public cybersecurity body. Reporting to the General Secretariat for Defence and National Security (SGDSN), it is the competent national authority for implementing the NIS 2 directive in France for most sectors.
Role under NIS 2
- Competent authority: ANSSI receives significant incident notifications from essential and important entities.
- National CSIRT: ANSSI is France's national Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), tasked with assisting entities during cyberattacks.
- Supervision and control: it can carry out audits and inspections of entities subject to NIS 2.
- Publishing guidance: ANSSI produces technical frameworks and guides (cyber hygiene guide, SecNumCloud, etc.).
Contact and registration
Entities subject to NIS 2 must register with ANSSI and notify it of any significant incident within the timelines set by the directive (24h for the early warning, 72h for the initial notification).
