CSIRT / CERT
Computer Security Incident Response Team: a specialised team that responds to cybersecurity incidents. ANSSI is the national CSIRT designated by France under NIS 2.
A CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team), also called a CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team), is a specialised team that detects, analyses and responds to cybersecurity incidents.
CSIRTs under NIS 2
The NIS 2 directive requires each member state to designate a national CSIRT. In France, this role is held by ANSSI. Entities subject to NIS 2 must notify significant incidents to this national CSIRT.
Role of the national CSIRT
- Receiving and handling incident notifications
- Providing technical assistance to entities affected by incidents
- Sharing threat information at national and European level
- Participating in the European CSIRTs Network
Sector-specific CSIRTs
Some sectors may have their own CSIRT (e.g. CERT Santé for the healthcare sector in France). Entities can notify both the sector-specific CSIRT and ANSSI.
